Ken Tabart
Ken is a retired civil engineer and project manager who has managed consulting offices practising in engineering, environment, buildings and resources. His contribution to teh Advisory Board is management, governance and support.
Ken is also a volunteer with the “homework club” for primary and secondary students held at CAN for three afternoons each week and is a member of CAN Uniting Church. John EvansJohn is the Uniting Church minister at CAN and the CEO of the CAN Community Services operation. He has ministered in several states of Australia and is a qualified lawyer.
John manages the staff and operations of CAN Community Services and is responsible for initiatives and partnerships to advance appropriate services to the Carlton community and in particular the housing estate, such as Estate Computers. Ian CunliffeAfter a career as a senior federal public servant and as a partner in major law firms , Ian takes an active interest in community activities in Carlton and its surrounds.
He is a member of the Board of the not-for–profit Brunswick Business Incubator. In 1996, with two others Ian established a computer games developer of equestrian and other sporting games. He continued as a director of that developer for 13 years. At its zenith, it employed 130 people in Melbourne. Ian also provides pro bono legal assistance to, in particular, residents of the high rise housing estates in Carlton. Paul Madden
Paul is a social activist with political and operational experience in social services and is passionate about social equality, particularly for the housing estate.
Paul is the CAN Treasurer and so is treasurer for Estate Computers and advises on its operations. Simon Watters
Simon manages the family business Alpha Magnetics Pty Ltd. This small business in Bayswater supplies magnetic equipment. He studied Science and Archaeology at Melbourne University. Simon is Treasurer of Ringwood Uniting Church which is a large well resourced church in Melbourne’s east. Ringwood Uniting Church supports many activities of the wider Uniting Church.
Simon brings commercial and operational experience to Estate Computers. Alan Eades
Alan is an Analyst for Strategy & Planning, Information Technology Services at Melbourne University in the field of Information Communication Technology (ICT). Alan contributes his knowledge of computers, internet operations and providers (ISP’s) to advance the development and operation of Estate Computers
Stephen MurphyStephen works for the Brotherhood of St Lawrence (BSL) which also has an employment engagement activity at CAN. Stephen has previously worked for the Department of Human services (DHS), specifically with its employment program Public Tenant Employment Program (PTEP). Stephen was part of the COOL project and is committed to its concept and the opportunity to equip all housing estate families with access to the internet and skills to use this resource to advance their opportunities.
Sarah Deasey
Sarah is a community educator with the Carlton Neighbour Learning Centre. Sarah was a member of the COOL project and coordinated the computer training elements. Sarah is committed to developing this social enterprise and the computer training elements for the combined Estate Computer package of a refurbished affordable computer, appropriate computer training and affordable connection to the internet.
Hamdi AliHamdi is a leader in the Somali community in Melbourne and is the Secretary of the Carlton Housing Estate Residents Services INC, (CHERS). Since comings to Australia, Hamdi has Completed his VCE and has obtained tertiary qualifications from RMIT University Advance Diploma in Computer Systems Engineering, and now is in his third year Computer/Network engineering degree at RMIT.
Hamdi runs Estate Computers, where his functions include refurbishing computers and providing training, as well as sitting on the Advisory Board. Hamdi is passionate about technology, in particular computer networking and wireless technology. Hamdi has both Microsoft and Cisco Certifications. |
